Recovery Night

August 13, 2013

At this month's Recovery Night, The Emily Program will host Colleen Hinz and Victoria Keller.

Colleen will talk about how self-loathing, internalized homophobia, Bipolar, and the search for something inherently wrong with herself, lead to her eating disorder. She will also discuss how she had to find reasons and motivation within herself to truly recover, trust, and love herself.

Victoria will discuss being diagnosed with EDNOS at the age of 37, after living with an eating disorder since childhood.  She will share some of her experiences living with an eating disorder that for decades was not considered "severe enough" to warrant treatment when she sought it.  During her time with the Emily Program, Victoria has learned how her decision-making process and lifestyle habits were impacted by the eating disorder.  Victoria considers recovery an ongoing journey of self-discovery, and will share significant milestones of the eating disorder and recovery, her most effective recovery tools, and her plans for continued progress.

Date: August 13

Time: 6:30-8:00PM
2265 Como Ave, lower level, St. Paul, MN 55108

Recovery Night is a night of inspiration and hope, and occurs the 2nd Tuesday of every month. This is a free event that is open to the community.

September: New Space in Seattle, WA & Woodbury, MN
We are thrilled to announce that this September we have two big expansions.
We'll open our 10th location in Woodbury, MN and also increase our Seattle, WA office space, expanding to the 7th floor.

Our rapid growth and new programs have created the need for more offices and group rooms for our Seattle providers and clients.
Mid-September The Emily Program Seattle will open a second suite on the 7th floor within our current building. This will make way for a renovation to be completed in our current suite, 650, which will then reopen in October.
Having both of these spaces opens up the potential for us to add adolescent intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP), yoga and movement therapy, enhanced art and music therapy, and several new, innovative group options. It will also provide us with extra space for future growth in other areas of programming.
Stay tuned for updates.

Opening September 3, our Woodbury office will be located at Gateway Corporate Center, 576 Bielenberg Drive, Suite 250.
A few of our Como, Stillwater, and St. Louis Park providers will transition to this new space. Providers who have decided to transition to Woodbury will discuss this change and the options available with their clients individually over the next few weeks.

Woodbury will offer:
  • Eating Disorder Assessments
  • Individual Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Family-Based Treatment (FBT)
  • Nutritional Evaluation and Counseling
  • Intensive Day and Intensive Outpatient Programs
  • Psychiatric and Medical Services

Comprehensive Eating Disorder Services
Over the last 20 years The Emily Program has continued to grow -- adding many services beyond the initial outpatient individual therapy and dietitian services we began offering in 1993.
"We think like people with eating disorders think," says our executive director, Dirk Miller, Ph.D., L.P. "We 'are' our clients. We know the changes people need to make to live through an eating disorder's destructive patterns of thoughts and feelings. We know how to restore people to whole and happy lives."
Understanding that individuals need different levels of care depending on where they are within their eating disorder has sparked new outpatient groups, medical and psychiatric care, intensive programs, family and couples counseling, Family-Based Therapy (FBT), partial plus lodging, and residential treatment.
The Emily Program is able to offer people of all ages and genders a treatment plan that works with their schedule and needs.
Offering a full continuum of care is optimal for individuals who need increased and decreased levels of support on their journey to recovery. Download a copy of our Services at a Glance to learn more about all the programs offered at The Emily Program.
We encourage people to get the help they deserve. Eating disorders are treatable. We'll work with you (and your loved ones) to find your path to recovery.
