Please join The Emily Program for a complimentary continuing education event at the Lacey Community Center on July 21, 2014 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Dr. Jillian Lampert, Chief Development Officer of The Emily Program and nationally renowned eating disorder expert will present on The Overlap Between Compulsive Overeating, Binge Eating and Obesity.

When does overeating become a ‘problem’? When is obesity related to compulsive overeating or binge eating? How can you tell? This workshop will address these questions and more, providing a comprehensive overview of the ‘what’ and ‘what to do about it’ regarding compulsive overeating and the new DSM-5 diagnosis, binge eating disorder (BED) and how eating disorders may interface with obesity.

Research indicates up to 30% of individuals seeking weight loss services struggle with eating disorders making these issues widely prevalent. Open to clinicians of all sorts who interface with people struggling with weight-related issues or eating disorders, this

workshop will provide practical and useful techniques drawing from CBT and Mindful Eating.

Participants will walk away with the ability to identify and learn:

  • three indicators that obesity may be linked to an eating disorder;
  • the differences between obesity, Compulsive Overeating and Binge Eating Disorder for diagnostic purposes;
  • at least two Mindful Eating therapeutic techniques to use in practice.

Two (2) CEUs available for RDs. This program has been approved for 2 CEU hours by the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
