Exciting Group Therapy Options Offered This Fall

The Emily Program offers a variety of different groups to meet our client’s needs. Check out some of the exciting groups going on now throughout Minnesota! Please see you individual therapist for a referral to start a group.

Connections: Shame Resiliency

Based on the research of Brené Brown, this 12 week group provides a framework for recognizing the universal experience of shame and provides openings to exploring authentic living as the gateway to shame resiliency. Weekly topics include: defying shame, practicing empathy, exploring triggers and vulnerabilities, practicing critical awareness, reaching out to others, and creating, embracing, and inspiring change.

When: Wednesdays, 9:00-10:30 am

Mood Management

Mood Management is designed to help clients learn cognitive skills to manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, and shame. Clients will learn how the way they think impacts both the way they feel and the way they behave. They will learn strategies to identify and challenge cognitive distortions, which have been demonstrated to impact the way people feel and behave in a positive manner.

St. Louis Park
When: Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 pm OR
Fridays, 11:00 am-12:00 pm

Provides male clients with support, feedback, and perspective from other men who are struggling with eating disorders. Open to all ages and diagnoses.

Men's Group

When: Thursday s, 4:00-5:30pm
Led by: Doug Perry

Adoptee Group

For clients ages 18 and older, this group offers support, understanding, and tools for clients struggling with eating disorders, and who also have the unique emotional experience of being an adoptee. This group provides clients with a safe place to explore attachment and relationships with themselves, others, and how it relates to body image and other emotional issues. Participants should have some willingness or ability to explore how the effects of being an adoptee have shaped their emotional experience, relationships, and ways of coping.
