Yoga and Body Image
Because people with eating disorders usually struggle with body image issues, body image work is a critical step in recovery—no matter what eating disorder you have. Throughout The Emily Program, we emphasize a powerful alternative to body image worry and obsession: body experience.
Body experience means sensing and becoming conscious of all the things our bodies do, whether they are every day activities like standing up or newly developed activities.
Yoga is a simple, direct way to sense and experience our bodies. Our supportive yoga leaders adapt yoga exercises to any body shape and any experience level.
We also use a variety of other resources and activities to learn new ways of accepting and enjoying a different relationship with your body.
And we always provide time to process the body experience.
