Maybe have a forum member or two moderate the forum…

Spam solution:

Maybe having an active forum member (or two) moderate—with permissions to remove posts and people who have fewer than 10 posts (that way the mod couldn’t be accused of getting rid of active members or “not liking” someone)...

Lots of forums have active members be mods…

What about that as a solution?

Thank you for this suggestion. I will bring it to a larger group of staff to talk about. If we would want to go this route, would you be interested in moderating?

I think that sounds like a great suggestion. I’m anxious to hear what comes of it. Thank you, Katie for suggesting it. :)

Why would you get rid of people with fewer than 10 posts? I have fewer than 10. That’s stupid. Just my input. But if you don’t want me here, whatever.

IthinkIcan: I am pretty sure Katie was suggesting that a moderator could be granted permission to remove posts of spammers with less than 10 replies. It would be an administrative security measure, that way only the administrators would be able to remove posts of members with over 10 posts so that the moderator wouldn’t accidentally delete any long time members. Sometimes it’s nice to go back and read older posts.

I haven’t really seen peoples posts removed however there was one member who’s posts and identity were accidentally deleted when they had been heavily spammed.

You are most certainly welcome to be here. I and the others I’m sure welcome your posts however few or many you’d like to post. The spamming has gotten out of control and at times triggering to those that have read their comments and followed their links. I know that we all want to keep this a safe place for us to share and support each other.

Please know you are definitely wanted here.

I wasn’t saying remove ALL people with 10 or fewer posts…I was saying what Tweedy was saying…that spammers typically start spamming right away…so if a mod had access to delete people/posts fewer than ten…a mod wouldn’t accidentally delete a long-time member (or be accused of not liking someone and deleting them for that reason)...and would only have permissions to delete the problems (which typically show up before 10 posts)...with all the spam (and the content of the spam) it’s making the forum an unsafe place to be…

I welcome REAL people here—I wasn’t suggesting to delete you because you have fewer than 10 posts…(I was just suggesting a solution to get rid of the spammers with limitations so real people wouldn’t get deleted)...

Does that make sense?  I feel like i"m not explaining myself very well!

We will have our discussion about this forum with staff when people are back from their holiday vacations—so around the beginning of next year. As soon as there is information to share, I’ll post it. Thanks everyone.
