I’m new to EP.  I see a therapist and a dietician.

Do many clients of EP frequent this board?  It just seems so dead here (not many new topics or conversations).  Is it because people don’t come?  Don’t know what to talk about?  Don’t want to talk about stuff?  Etc.?

If you don’t post here—do you post on a different online support forum?

I really enjoy the daily thoughts and I would love to help support and get support…it’s just really not a “jumping” forum, right now…

Roll call?  How many people actually come here and read?  Would you respond or write more if other people did?

hi!

I think I would respond more if other people did. I feel like this place has the potential for being very supportive… in a “I’m about to use symptoms at 3 am but sure as heck am not going to call someone and wake them up for support” sort of way.

I don’t really understand why more people aren’t here… I don’t think this is advertised at the emily program well, but it is on the front of their website, so in my mind more people should be stumbling across it?

Hi katie111,
I personally know I am on the forum nearly daily probably checking the forums hundreds, possibly nearly a thousand times since signing up, but my profile indicates that in the entire time that I have been a member I have only posted 21 times. My best guess is that many users on this forum view the posts (many posts have hundreds, some over a thousand views!) but decline to comment for a variety of reasons. I often feel in my own experience anyway, that there is fear and feelings of vulnerability if I post. I often have time constraints where I simply don’t have enough time to say what I want/need to say. And more often than not there are times I read the posts and I feel and understand what the writer may be experiencing. And in this case, I feel like I don’t have the “right” words to say at the moment, and I don’t want to say something “cliché” so I fail to say anything at all. Perhaps, this is not the best nor most effective way of being a subscriber to an eating disorder support forum, and maybe this is where I can make the commitment to myself and to the forum to offer more support to those posting and to post topics of my own if need be—even if it is a short and simple. I’m not sure if this resonates with anyone else, but this is my two cents about the topic at hand.

I agree, chickadee, that it COULD be a great place…I hope it blossoms into one! :)

I check a lot as well…but it doesn’t change or update frequently (although the thoughts for the day here and on fb are helpful to keep a positive mindset for me…keeps Ed quiet for a while, anyway)...

I’m with you, Superwoman, on the points of time, vulnerability, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! :)
