I dont always like that everyone thinks its only the really thin people that have E.D.s! It is often the opposite. People expect you to be underweight if u have one but the truth is that most people with E.D.s are normal sized and that also hurts more! If anyone has any advise for me i am new to this site!

i often think the same way - that only the legitimate and worthy, lovable people who deserve treatment are those who are visibly thin enough - even though it is never enough. I’ve certainly never been worthy enough.

This is one of the exact topics that eating disorder advocates are fighting to change: that eating disorders come in ALL shapes and sizes and that ALL deserve proper treatment regardless of their shape or size.  Many people are are under or mis-educated that all people with eating disorders are very thin or underweighted, those of us who struggle know that this is not at all the case.  The truth is that ANYONE, no matter what their weight can have an eating disorder and EVERYONE who has an eating disorder IS worthy of help.  Know that no matter what your weight you ARE worthy AND you DO deserve help.

Yes, and the people (eg: my parents) who think that going through therapy and a dietitian should automatically mean that I lose weight.  Then, proceed to tell me that all of my work with my therapist and dietian isn’t good enough because I’m not losing weight.  They don’t see how i’ve improved mentally. Nothing will be good enough for them unless I lose weight.  When I really want to say,“you two drove me to this ED!!”  Also, they drove me to find a new means of mental support.  I stopped talking with my mom about it and now have confided in 2 friends.
