As we look back over these weeks of controversy, we are heartened by our blessings.
We have heard from other Twin Cities communities interested in welcoming residential treatment into their neighborhoods.
Based on our 17 years of experience, we’ve showed people that treatment works.
Even more heartening, as we worked to expand treatment opportunities, people in Orono, around the state, and across the country were inspired to speak out in support of people with eating disorders, chemical dependency and other mental health issues.
There is much all of us can do educate and advocate on behalf of individuals who suffer with eating disorders and other mental health issues. They are not to be feared, but embraced by our communities so they can heal.
They are our loved ones and neighbors, no matter where we live. With sufficient treatment, many of them go on to lead, whole, healthy and productive lives.
We hope you will continue to join us in advocating for access to care for all. Your courage, generosity and compassion will not be forgotten.
