Hello everyone,
I’m beginning to train again for some distance fitness events.  I’m wondering if there are any athletes out there than can offer any advise or personal experience on eating in a healthy way and training without slipping in to old patterns.

I’m really walking a fine line with myself and want to do this the healthy way.  Thanks.

Are you at EP or seeking treatment anywhere?

My therapist and dietician are both in the loop for any exercise/fitness/racing events I participate in.  “Eating a healthy way” would be following your mealplan.  If you feel there needs to be an adjustment because of your level of fitness, that is a question for a dietician to answer and work with you on.  If you’re worried about over-exercising, that might be something you need to share with your treatment team.  If you set reasonable limits on yourself (I will only do X-amount of minutes, or, I will only do X-exercise and I will leave the gym or stop exercising intentionally for the day).

Could you keep a fitness journal?—write what you did (for how long, how many reps, etc.), write how you felt physically and emotionally after/during it, write down any Ed thought that came up to explore, etc.

It’s actually become mandatory for me to have a log of my fitness and follow my meal plan (I mean, the meal plan part I was already doing—just—both are necessary).  I’m also to talk to my dietician if things feel off (like if I’m suddenly starving or not feeling hungry at all—the extremes).  Both my dietician and therapist are holding me explicitly accountable for my training for an upcoming fitness event.
